Third European Meeting of Vintage Buses

Note: This event is over

It will be a meeting of superlatives: 120 vintage buses from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Belgium and Hungary have already registered. From 29 April to 1 May 2011 they will be guests of the Auto & Technik MUSEUM SINSHEIM. Many of these veterans will return to their home country since with the bus factories Auwärter / Neoplan in Stuttgart, Mercedes in Mannheim, Käsbohrer in Ulm and Vetter in Fellbach, Baden-Württemberg has written bus history. But also buses from other brands can be admired. All types of buses built between 1923 and the 1970s will be on show. The spectrum of buses participating in the meeting ranges from small buses to double-decker buses and also includes rarities like a bus with a passenger trailer, a semi double-decker bus from 1974, and the largest bus in the world. The former Eastern Bloc will be represented by buses e.g. from Robur, IFA and Ikarus.

Information for Visitors and Spectators
On Friday 29 April 2011, most of the vintage buses can be viewed all-day on the open air ground of the Auto & Technik MUSEUM SINSHEIM. On Saturday 30 April 2011, the buses can be viewed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the open air ground of the Technik MUSEUM SPEYER. Access to the open air grounds of the museums is free.

Information for Active Participants
An extensive social programme will be organized for the active participants of the meeting including visits to the technology museums and the IMAX movie theatres in Sinsheim and Speyer and the Technoseum in Mannheim, a visit to the Evobus factory in Mannheim, and two social evenings. The intention of the meeting is to wake an interest for the history bus engineering in the public and to give all friends and owners of vintage buses a possibility to meet, exchange ideas, and have fun.
