Alternative Drive Meeting
Saturday, 8th April 2018 at the TECHNIK MUSEUM SINSHEIM
While it is otherwise rather noisy at the numerous vehicle conventions at the TECHNIK MUSEUM SINSHEIM, lighter tones mark the convention for vehicles with alternative forms of propulsion. Almost inaudible and free of exhaust fumes, the elite of electric and hybrid vehicles have been rendezvousing once a year in Sinsheim since 2007. On Saturday the 8th of April, 2018, it is happening again, because on this day, under the motto "It doesn’t always have to be super", for the 9th time the museum is inviting vehicles without a combustion engine to a convention on the open grounds.
The search for alternatives to the petrol or diesel engine is not new. Electrically powered automobiles were already being built in 1900, but couldn’t be implemented because of the heavy batteries and the low range. However, technological progress has brought significant innovations, particularly in recent years. At the first convention there were mainly light, one or two-seat vehicles, and in the meantime small and middle-class family vehicles have made an appearance, now representing a true alternative to conventionally designed cars, in any case for short journeys.
Whoever would like to inform themselves first-hand on the state of alternative propulsion technologies in the automotive sector, should come to the Auto & Technik Museum in Sinsheim on April 29th. The owners of the vehicles will show off their cars, and give visitors insight into the technology and performance characteristics of their economical means of transport. In addition, numerous manufacturers of vehicles with alternative propulsion technology will present their innovations. And a first generation electric car from circa 1900 with be in action to admire.
The vehicle convention will take place from 9:00 to 18:00 on the open grounds of the AUTO & TECHNIK MUSEUM SINSHEIM. Access to the outdoor area is free of charge! Active participants who arrive on the day of the event with a vehicle with alternative propulsion, will receive a small surprise gift and a discount for the museum.
Detailed information for visitors of the event and registration information for active participants can be found on the German version of this page.
