Ferrari 342 America

But six cars were built of this early Ferrari model, three as convertibles and three as coupès. The specimen on exhibit in the Museum has the chassis number 240 AL. The "America", the very first roadworthy model built by Ferrari, started the cooperation of the automobile factory in Maranello with the renowned Italian body designer Pinin Farina. Interestingly this is the only Ferrari which, for aesthetic reasons, was equipped with a door handle. In spite of its age this now prohibitively expensive car can still reach a top speed of nearly 200 km/h.
