Lamborghini vineyard caterpillar
Whoever hears the name Lamborghini thinks of fast cars and exclusive automobiles from Italy. At the age of 20, Ferruccio Lamborghini, a son of Emilia Romagna from the countryside, started building a tractor from a Fiat 501. With war equipment of all kinds, which he was able to acquire cheaply, he began small-scale industrial production. In 1949, he released his "Carriola" which meant wheelbarrow. He later bought the engines from Motorenwerke Mannheim - they were economical, powerful and ran for thousands of operating hours without any problems.
The Trattori Lamborghini plant started in the province of Ferrara. Now he also built the engines himself. In the seventies, Lamborghini sold his tractor factory to the Italian tractor manufacturer Same. He switched to automobile production and had a lot of success with his amazing creations. However, there are some tractors from the early days of Ferruccio Lamborghini that are still in use.
The vineyard caterpillar in the Technik Museum Sinsheim carried out work on the steep Boxbeutel vineyards on the Main for 30 years. It is only 122 cm wide and weighs 2,750 kg. The synchronised transmission has 8 forward and 4 reverse gears.
